Oakland native and Oscar winning actor Tom Hanks has tested positive for COVID19. Hanks made the news public on his Instagram telling fans that he and his wife, actress Rita Wilson, tested positive while visiting Australia. The couple were feeling tired and had body aches and other symptoms so they decided to test. Doctor’s confirmed they are indeed ill with coronavirus. Currently, they are under observation and remain in Australia.

It looks like Tom and Rita are taking this news in stride saying that medical officials in Australia have protocols they’ll follow and will submit to more testing and observation. Choosing to take it one day at a time. For many of us, the news of Hanks and his wife, along with the suspension of the NBA’s season, has brought home the severity of this situation. Let’s use this as a reminder that the virus doesn’t discriminate. Young, old, rich, poor, famous or not…let’s follow instructions, wash our hands frequently and stay healthy! We wish both Tom and Rita a speedy recovery.
