A lot goes into preparing for your prom. You gotta find a date, pick the right dress/tuxedo, arrange transportation and on and on. So when Natalie Reese of Danville found out that her prom was cancelled, it was heartbreaking. She wouldn’t let it stop her though. She started a series of TikTok videos showing her preparing for the big night complete with dress, make-up, shoes, hair and eyelashes (of course)! When she sufficiently looked and felt like a real princess, she walked downstairs and surprised her family! What started out as an idea to keep her prom dress from going to waste turned into an amazing moment that raised the spirits of her parents and siblings. And don’t worry that she didn’t have a date, her dad stepped in as a dance partner.

But wait…it didn’t end there. Natalie had so much fun getting ready for her home prom that she invited her classmates at San Ramon Valley High School to do the same. Asking fellow TikTokers to let loose at their own home proms, she’s hoping her classmates and students around the globe will fill the “for you” page with videos of what their proms at home look like. The big day is Saturday, March 28th.
ABC’s Good Morning America spoke with Natalie about her idea and how it’s blossomed into something really fun!
It’s amazing to watch the creativity and ingenuity people are using to entertain and create good vibes while we all stay indoors and curb the spread of coronavirus.
