Drake and The Weeknd Grant A Boy’s Final Wish
By on April 1, 2020
Try not to tear up when you read this story. 11 year old Elijah Williams valiantly battled cancer for three years. Over the years he found the strength, courage and comfort in the music of his favorites, Drake, The Weeknd and J. Cole. His only wish was to let these stars know how much their music meant to him and the joy it would bring if he had that chance to let them know personally. Well, crazy how planets align and things fall into place for all the right reasons! All three superstars FaceTimed Elijah late last week. Elijah’s mother posted the video on Instagram and it’s super sweet.
Video of Drake was not included in the video but don’t worry, he was part of this virtual meet and greet too. Sadly, Elijah ended his battle with cancer on Friday but not before meeting his heroes.

Over the past 3 years, my 11 y.o. cousin, Elijah, has battled cancer with the utmost resilience. Elijah's physical fight is now complete, as he transitioned to heaven on Friday. He didn't leave this world without knowing how much he was loved though. Last weekend, Elijah got to "meet" 3 of his favorite artists — The Weeknd, J. Cole, & Drake. Incredibly grateful for these 3 super-humans being so caring for my family during this time. We’ll hold onto these moments forever. A special thank you to the angels, Kathryn & Krystal for helping make this happen in such a short time. Please lift Kiara, Elijah's mom, and the rest of the fam up in your thoughts & prayers. In a time where there seems like so much is out of our control, one thing that we all have the power to give + show others is LOVE. 2 Corinthians 5:8
His mother, Kiara Swope, told NBC News her son was the “mayor” of the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughter in Norfolk, Virginia. She added “everyone knew who he was. He was his own celebrity.”
