If you missed out on seeing Hamilton before SIP, you’ll have your chance to see the most talked about musical ever at home! Disney planned to release a recorded version of the mega-hit stage play in movie theaters next year. But we’re all still pretty hungry for exciting things to watch so they’re transforming your house into “the room where it happens” on July 3. This is a big move for Disney who paid seventy-five million dollars for the rights to show Lin-Manuel Miranda’s telling of American founding father Alexander Hamilton.

It’s also a gigantic score for Disney+ because with the pandemic halting most movie and television production, there’s very little new programming to introduce to viewers on the new platform. Hamilton, along with a second season of The Mandalorian later this year, is giving viewers a lot to get excited about. Hamilton has attracted 2.6 million theater goers on Broadway over the past five years on stage. The movie version is a combination of three performances starring Miranda as the lead. This Independence Day weekend, the fireworks are on your tv!
