When I was a kid, the best Christmas gift I ever got was a radio. Ever since then, the only goal I had in life was to become a DJ. I memorized every song I heard and knew the names of every DJ on the air where I grew up in hopes that knowing all that stuff would be my ticket to becoming the youngest disc jockey in history at five years old.
From that point, I terrorized every radio station in town over the phone asking to introduce songs on the air. Eventually, all the DJs started recognizing my voice and promptly hung up on me before I could even finish saying hello. Obviously, the youngest DJ thing never happened. But at age 19, I scored my big break – an internship at a radio station in my hometown of Philadelphia.
After months of begging and pleading, my dream came true and I started my on-air career. Since then, I was a VIP customer at U-Haul for several years working in great cities like Dallas, Austin, Pittsburgh and New York. I’ve lived in the Bay Area for over 14 years and can’t imagine living anywhere else.
When I’m not at the radio station, I love to get on my bike and ride all around this amazing place we live. I’ve completed two 100 mile rides and plan to do many more long distance rides in the future. I also spend a lot of time eating at San Francisco restaurants, so it’s a very good thing that I’ve fallen in love with cycling. The rest of the time, I hang with my three dogs at the beach or camp out in front of the TV watching Glee, Jersey Shore and True Blood.
I can’t thank you enough for making 99.7 NOW your habit everyday.
