With recent discoveries of characters hidden in children’s online content telling them to cause harm to themselves St John wants to remind you of a few tips to help protect your kids. Here are 5  Things To Know To Keep Your Kids Safe Online……

1.  KEEP COMPUTERS IN SIGHT

If you have a home computer do not allow it to be in your kids room. Have it be in a common area where you can monitor what they do. If they have tablets or phones set a limit and keep them in your room when it is time to go to sleep.

2. BE ONLINE TOGETHER 

Technology is a big part of our lives now and constantly changing the way we gather information, do homework or catch up on our favorite shows. When your kids need to research or find information for a project sit with them and see what they look up.

Let them share with you what their online go to sites are and make it a family thing!

3. TALK TO YOUR KIDS

Sit and have a serious talk with your kids about the dangers of the Webb. Be honest about the dark side of the internet and Educate them on it.  Teach them to bring it to your attention if there is anything alarming that ever pops up while they are surfing and how to identify it.

4.CHECK THE BROWSING HISTORY

Check your kids browsing history to see what they have been searching, if you find it has been deleted please take it seriously. Sit down with them and ask them why.

5. USE PARENTAL CONTROLS

Check with your provider for what parental controls they offer and take full advantage of them. Filter the searches and have them block sites they might accidentally stumble up on. Keep things Password protected and do not give it to them.
