FOR YEARS, WHEN A NEW GENERATION OF IPHONE’S WOULD BE RELEASED MANY IPHONE USERS SWORE THEY NOTICED SPEED REDUCTION ON OLDER PHONES!
About two years ago a group of apple customers decided to sue Apple as they believed they were purposely slowing down older phones. They believed it was their way to get people to upgrade. Apple of course denied these accusations and after years of going back and forth under a proposed settlement they have now agreed to pay up to $500 Million to settle the lawsuit. What does this mean for you?
St. John’s Thing To Know: Apple has agreed to pay iPhone owners who complained about these issues about $25 each.
If you were in the United States before Dec. 21 2017 and had the following phones running on iOS 10.2.1 or later OR iOS 11.2 or later then you are eligible:
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone 7
- iPhone7 Plus
Under the proposed settlement you won’t need a receipt to file a claim. There will be a simple claim form you will have to fill out and thats it. The settlement still requires a federal judge’s approval and so it may still be a few months until you have access to the claim form.
