Target, Nike, Best Buy And A Few Others Declared Juneteenth A Company Holiday – St. John

St. John’s Thing To Know: Juneteenth will be recognized as a holiday for a few major companies.

Juneteenth isn’t observed as a national holiday yet but 45 states do recognize Juneteenth ( June 19th ) as a state holiday and for the first time, major companies have been looking for ways to observe this day. Beginning this year, Target, Jc Pennny, Best Buy and Nike announced that moving forward  they will be recognizing “Juneteenth” as a holiday and all their employees will be receiving holiday pay. Target also announced they would be raising their employees minimum wage to $15/ hour and made a $10 million commitment to help rebuild our communities  and advance social justice.
