St. John’s Thing To Know: How you can celebrate Earth day today and every day!
Today marks Earth Day’s 50th anniversary. A day where people around the world celebrate earth and bring awareness to the environment and recycling.
According to the Earth Day Organization about 1 Billion people from over 192 countries celebrate Earth day ever year! Today, however things are different with the shelter in place and even though we can’t hold big celebrations in person we can still have our own at home.
Here are some ways to celebrate from home:
- START YOUR OWN GARDEN – There are still a few stores like Home Depot and Walmart that are open and have either seeds or plants that are ready to be planted. In a few months you will have your own veggies, fruits or just pretty flowers that you helped grow!
- GO FOR A WALK – With the shelter in place many are doing this already but today why not take your time a bit more and look down at the flowers, look up at the trees and feel the wind
- TAKE A VIRTUAL TOUR OF A ZOO OR AQUARIUM – Many Aquariums and Zoo’s are offering either free or donation tours.
- Click <HERE> to see Monterey Bay Aquarium Live Cams
- POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA- Put up a nice post of your favorite nature view and what you love the most about our planet. You can also go to Earthday.Org to download some official #EarthDay Artwork.
- JOING EARTH’S DAY OFFICIAL LIVE – There is a 24 hour celebration streamed to celebrate Earth Day at EarthDay.Org !
Happy Earth Day 2020!!!!
