SINCE THE FIRST MENTIONS OF THE CORONAVIRUS, ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS TO FLY OFF THE SHELVES WAS HAND SANITIZER!
ST. JOHN’S THING TO KNOW: What Kind Of Hand Sanitizer To Use
Hand Sanitizers flew off the shelves out of fear of getting the Virus earlier this year. However, yeah you may be stocked up on sanitizer…. but it does not mean it will protect you against the Coronavirus.
Most labels say that they kill 99.99% of germs so it is easy to think it will be helpful during the COVID-19 outbreak but unless it has 60% or more alcohol in it, it won’t do the trick.
As a reminder …hand sanitizer is in no way a replacement to washing hands! If you CAN wash your hands do that instead and leave using hand sanitizer as a last resort.
According to the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) studies showed that sanitizers with an alcohol concentration over 60% are more effective at killing germs. Alcohol – Free hand sanitizers are not recommended by the CDC as it may reduce the amount of germs but not kill them.
