Disney Releases New “Star Wars IX: The Rise of Skywalker” Trailer

Disney has dropped new footage from its upcoming film, Star Wars IX: The Rise of Skywalker, that gives fans their first look at the climactic showdown between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). The two-minute clip is part of a sizzle reel that debuted Saturday at Disney’s D23 Expo; EW reports that attendees were most shocked by a shot that shows Rey in a hooded black robe wielding a red, double-sided lightsaber. Meanwhile, fans are already reacting to a certain moment in the trailer (around 1:19) where we might see the end of long-time character 3-CPO, as he says, “Taking one last look….at my friends” *cue the tears*. The movie is set to release December 20th, 2019.
