Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” just spent its 17th week atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart, breaking the record of 16 weeks shared by Maria Carey and Boyz II Men tune “One Sweet Day,” as well as the Justin Bieber/Luis Fonsi/Daddy Yankee collaboration “Despacito.” “YEE TF HAWWW,” Lil Nas X tweeted on Monday. As the AP notes, the single–which Lil Nas has remixed with artists like Bill Ray Cyrus, Mason Ramsey, Diplo, Young Thug, and RM from BTS–has achieved most of its success through audio streaming. Helping it maintain its momentum is the fact that the original version and its various remixes all count as one when calculating chart position. Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish have come close to dethroning “Old Town Road” during its epic run at #1, but were ultimately unsuccessful.

As perviously mentioned the record was held by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men ’90s jam “One Sweet Day.” So how would the rapper celebrate? “You know, instead of doing my usual crying in the bathtub for five hours, I’m gonna cut it down to three,” Lil Nas jokingly told a TMZ videographer this past weekend. He then added, “I may buy Mariah Carey some roses and send them to her. ‘Cuz I love her.” Earlier this month, Lil Nas joked about doing another remix of his smash hit with the pop diva, tweeting, “OK Mariah, let’s get this remix in.” But Mariah told TMZ this pats weekend, “No one wants to hear that remix.” When asked if she was worried about Lil Nas X beating her Billboard record, she added, “Darling, no.”
